Security, Adaptability and Innovation (2024)

2024 symposium panel and attendees This year’s Chicago Payments Symposium focused on three key industry themes – security, adaptability and innovation – based on current and evolving trends in innovation, instant payments, global payments, digital currencies, security and information sharing. Payments leaders gathered in person and virtually to share insights, hear thought-provoking sessions, participate in strategic conversations, and simply enjoy networking with their peers.

 

Accelerating Innovation and Inclusion (2023)

2023 symposium panel Leaders from across the payments industry spoke to a capacity crowd at the October 2023 Chicago Payments Symposium. The day-and-a-half in-person and virtual event, Accelerating Innovation and Inclusion in Payment Networks, was hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and included thought-provoking insights, healthy debate and constructive dialogue – and even laughter. The tone was set by Chicago Fed CEO Austan Goolsbee: “The Symposium is a testament to the Chicago Fed’s longstanding commitment to collaboration with the industry on payments.”

 

Building Customer-Centered and Adaptive Networks (2022)

2022 symposium speakers The 2022 Chicago Payments Symposium focused on trends and ways the payments ecosystem can build customer-centric and adaptive networks to serve customers. The event kicked off with opening remarks by Charles Evans, president and CEO of the hosting Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, before diving right into the event’s dual customer and payments themes. The event also featured keynotes by Fed leaders Esther George and Loretta Mester, as well as thought-provoking panel sessions with payments industry experts.

 

Activating Next Gen Use Cases (2021)

2021 symposium speakers The 2021 Chicago Payments Symposium focused on Activating Next Gen Use Cases, including innovations in global payments, instant payments, digital currencies and open banking. In a world that continues to be upended by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event’s virtual setting facilitated discussions between a wide variety of financial institutions, service providers, end users, lawyers, economists, regulators and industry voices from around the country and world, to the benefit of its 450+ registrants on six continents.

 

Collaborating Around the Core (2020)

2020 symposium speakerThe 20th anniversary Symposium differed in only one significant way from previous events: it was held virtually for the first time due to COVID-19. While most attendees would have preferred an in-person event, the new format won praise and offered some surprising benefits. We recruited more speakers from around the globe and were able to invite a broader mix of payments stakeholders without the worry of limited physical space at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

 

Looking for Innovation at the Fringes (2019)
